I will be directing the Nu Civilisation Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Sunday 29 April. Last year we toured 'The Jazz Ticket', a series of nationwide shows celebrating 100 years of Jazz. I was commissioned to compose 'A Journey with the Giants of Jazz' a 15 minute piece paying tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Buddy Rich, Tadd Dameron, Thelonius Monk, Mongo Santamaria and Dizzy Gillespie.
Sunday will be the last chance to see the show and it's going to be a big celebration. There will be performances from youth groups from all over the country and a special guest, saxophonist Soweto Kinch, will be joining us on stage.
