Last night we celebrated Thelonius Monk's centenary with music and a panel discussion. The 'Culture&' event hosted at the British Library brought together an audience of jazz fans, journalists, artist and academics for and evening focusing on Monk the 'Modernist pioneer'. Chair for the discussion was Errol Francis from 'Culture&' and panelists included writer Candace Allen, vocalist Filomena Campus and myself.
It was a great evening. I played some of his famous compositions like 'Round Midnight, Pannonica and a duo performance of Ugly Beauty with singer Filomena Campus.
